NEWBIES LADIES SOCCER CLUB  - Grande Prairie and area, Alberta  
SO YOU JOINED A SPORTS TEAM!  NOW WHAT?
         So, you have decided to get fit and you have connected with a local sports club.  By year-end you will be your old self and the scouts will be drooling about you, "if only they had not sat on the couch for a few years".  Things go great in your first game, as you are full of vigor and vinegar and zilch is slowing you down.  The game is first-rate and you have arrived yet again.

The next day, your body and mind do not feel as swift, but actually are somewhat slower than customary.  Every time you move, your muscles screech back, "are you sure this sport's thing is worth it"?  The sane mind takes over and you persuade yourself that by game time you will be ready to roll once again. 
A small fib that will get you through the day and should last until the ref blows his initial whistle, signaling the truth monster from its hibernating state like an angry bear waken from a deep winter sleep. The soreness roars.

 

On your first attempt at the loose object, which you paid your hard earned dollars to chase, the shriek from your muscles are deafening and obvious.  There is no mistaking the clatter coming from inside your body, it is something from a further world and you want your money back.  Good luck with the latter.  All sports leagues are broke and getting "broker" every day.
 
Preparing yourself, in a fashion similar to the one stated above will encourage injuries and an encouragement not to be part of the participation.  Both are nothing you signed up for.
Well, it does not have to be that way.
The first and foremost truth you must come within reach of, is that team sports is NOT a stylish way to "get into shape".   However, being part of a group activity is a great motivator to embark on a healthier lifestyle and formulate different lifestyle choices.  You should by no means quit your sports team, as all your new friends know what you are going through.  And, if you keep with it you will straight away have something in common with your teammates.  You have taken the leading and hard-hitting first step, so why quit now!
If you are going to be that primma donna or get into that skimpy, which knocked out your spouse, lover or whatever, the lifestyle choices your aching breaking body is going to demand from you, is the obvious fitness factor, more walking and less driving.
 
This new boost to your passive fitness program, taking the fit route and not the carbon burning choice, if at all possible, will make your body order better foods.  Now, you have to get nutrition into the lineup.
 
You are getting fit and eating better now, so you reward yourself with a night out like you have never had before.  After all, your body is now a MACHINE, who needs sleep, right?
 
The party is so good, you decide to party right through until your 7:30 am start in the weekend tournament you are going to star in.  The cute guy/girl/or whatever your indescreation, which captured your fancy from the small town down the scenic twisty turney highway, also took into custody the time the night before until the wee early hours before game time, was in no way going to slow you down. 
 
Yes, you are a piece of equipment.  You will be a starter.
 
Just as the coach is barking out the lineup, you have a body yell attack, again, "please, please, I do NOT want to start this game"!  Guess what, a restful body is part of a nutritious body. 
 
But, what body in its right state of fitness and soul, would have difficulty with making the above somewhat controversial decision, party hard but play harder.
